OUR HISTORY
Our organization was born of the bold vision and fierce passion fueling the #Action4Ashley campaign for a new school for the predominantly black and brown, economically disadvantaged students of the Ashley Academy

WHAT WE SAW
An elementary school full of students and educators sick and unhealthy

WHAT WE FACED
An educated system and culture designed to exclude the voice and influence of Black and brown families

SYMPTOMATIC OF AN INEQUITABLE AND UNJUST SYSTEM
What started at Ashley grew into Action4Equity, a community-powered coalition to formally elevate Black and brown voices to address not only the immediate impact of inequitable systems, but also the long-term policy and system changes needed for a Community Culture Where Equity in Education Proudly Prevails.
Today, Action4Equity’s work centers designing structures that operationalize the Black community to achieve educational justice, an inclusive economy, and healthier children and families.
